Interested Volunteers

In order to participate as faculty for the ALARM International Program, you must be a member of the SOGC, have recently practiced obstetrics, and have one of the following professional backgrounds: obstetrician, family doctor, midwife or obstetrical nurse. Assignments are very short, with a typical duration of approximately 10 days, with at least or as little as one month's notice. Having recently completed the ALARM Canada course would be an asset. How to apply:


Before applying to become a volunteer for the AIP, please make sure that you meet the minimum criteria:

Minimum criteria to become an AIP volunteer:

  • Obstetrician, family doctor, midwife, or obstetrical nurse 
  • Have recently practiced obstetrics
  • Be a member of the SOGC

Additional desirable criteria include:

  • Having been trained to be an instructor for the ALARM International 4th edition (6 day course)
  • Have taken the ALARM Canada course
  • Having participated in AIP professional development workshops
  • Knowledge of other languages, especially Spanish
  • Having previously worked abroad
